How the Card Picker Works

The Card Picker simulates a reward screen and uses a scoring algorithm to recommend the best pick based on your current deck composition. It evaluates each card against five factors: rarity bonus, attack/skill/power ratio balance, damage or block efficiency, mana cost, and keyword value.

For best results, build your current deck in the left panel before generating rewards. The more accurately your deck reflects your in-game state, the more relevant the recommendations will be.

Card Pick Decision Framework

Even without a tool, experienced players use a mental checklist when evaluating reward cards. Here's the framework the Card Picker is based on:

1
Can I win without this card?
If your deck is already strong enough, skipping is a valid choice. Adding mediocre cards dilutes your deck and reduces consistency.
2
Does it fill a gap?
If you have 0 block cards, a mediocre Skill is better than an average Attack. Always address critical weaknesses first.
3
Does it fit my archetype?
An Exhaust synergy card is weak in a Strength deck even if its base stats are good. Archetype fit multiplies card value.
4
Is the cost acceptable?
0-cost cards are almost always worth considering. 3-cost cards need to win fights by themselves to be worth the slot.
5
Rare > Uncommon > Common — usually.
Rarity is a starting signal, not a rule. Some Common cards are auto-picks; some Rares are dead weight in your build.

When to Skip All Three Cards

Skipping at reward screens costs 0 gold. Many newer players feel compelled to always pick a card, but sometimes none of the three options improve your deck. The skip option is especially valuable:

  • When your deck is already well-rounded and the reward cards are Common rarities that don't fit your archetype.
  • When all three cards are high-cost (3+) and your deck already has good energy efficiency.
  • When you're approaching a boss and don't want to risk drawing a dead card instead of your key cards.
  • When none of the cards synergize with your relics or existing archetype.

Card Type Quick Reference

Attack Cards

Deal damage. Look for high damage-per-energy ratio, multi-hit cards that apply Vulnerable multiple times, or 0-cost attacks that cycle your deck.

Skill Cards

Generate block, draw cards, or apply debuffs. Prioritize Skills with secondary effects (draw, exhaust synergy, apply Weak/Vulnerable) over pure block cards.

Power Cards

Permanent passive effects. One strong Power can win a run. Limit to 1–3 Powers per deck — they're dead draws until played and slow your early turns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it ever correct to skip all three cards?

Yes. Skipping costs nothing. If none of the three cards improve your worst card or fill a critical gap, skipping keeps your deck lean and consistent. This is especially correct late in a run when your deck is already strong.

Should I always pick Rare cards?

Rarity is a starting signal, not a rule. A Rare that does not fit your archetype is weaker than an Uncommon that does. The Card Picker scores rarity as a bonus, but archetype fit and deck balance have higher weight.

How accurate is the AI recommendation?

The recommendation is based on heuristic scoring — deck balance ratios, damage/block efficiency, cost, and rarity. It is a strong guide but does not account for specific relic synergies or upcoming boss patterns. Always apply your own judgment.

What does the score out of 100 mean?

Each reward card receives a score from 0 to 100 based on how well it fits your current deck. 80+ means a strong pick that fills a real gap. 50–70 is situational. Below 50 suggests the card may not help your build much.

Can I import my real in-game deck?

The deck builder lets you search and add any card from the full STS2 card database. Build your deck to match what you have in-game for the most accurate recommendations.
